Youth Charter
The Youth Charter has been developed by young people in North Yorkshire to show what sort of standards they expect from the services that they use. It aims to encourage young people to become more actively involved in designing, managing and evaluating the services that are provided on their behalf. Young people go and inspect a service and then follow it up with a visit from a 'mystery shopper'. They decide on a score for the service and then give them a star rating, five stars being the best you can achieve.
Why apply for the Youth Charter?
If an organisation provides a service for young people then they should aim to achieve the Youth Charter. Many organisations think they are providing a good quality service, but it is not guaranteed that the young people using the service will agree. The Youth Charter shows that young people have judged how they are treated, what the facilities are like and the quality of the service that they receive. Any organisation receiving this award should be proud that they are providing such a high quality service that is valued by young people.
