Youth games

Bowled over! The youth games is an annual event hosted by the county sports partnerships across the UK. Launched as the millennium games in 2000, the youth games allow children from across the county to come together to compete in a range of sporting activities, in a fun filled and exciting day.

Martial artsThe Youth Games sponsored by York St John University is now in its eleventh year, and is the pinnacle of youth sport in North Yorkshire. On Sunday 4 July Queen Margaret's School in Escrick plays host to this prestigious event.
The Youth Games sees the wider North Yorkshire sporting partnership coming together to help organise and run the Youth Games. It sees sports staff from; Craven, Harrogate, Hambleton, York, Ryedale, Scarborough, Richmond and Selby, working with the 10 school sport partnerships, competition managers, and sports national governing bodies to ensure this fantastic event provides an opportunity for the competitors to showcase their skills. As a result of the Youth Games, there will be opportunities for the competitors to continue playing sport within local accredited sports clubs.
There are ten sports this year:
On your bike!
- cheerleading
- tag rugby
- tennis
- football
- hockey
- netball
- gymnastics
- cricket
- swimming
- sports ability.

Swim! The varied array of sports allows young people who might not otherwise have had an opportunity to represent their district, to have that opportunity to show their sporting prowess.
