Introducing Connexions
Put simply, if you have a problem, Connexions can help you. If they can't advise you themselves, they'll put you in touch with someone who can.
Of course, 'problem' can mean anything. Wondering about what college to go to? Or thinking about applying for a job, but not sure how to do it? Maybe you've had an argument at home, or maybe you're worried about sexual health. Perhaps you think you might be pregnant and you need someone to talk to. Life can throw a lot at you, and the Connexions service is there to help you catch the opportunities you want, and bat away problems you don't want. You can access Connexions in towns across the York and North Yorkshire region based in the integrated youth support hubs, which act as a 'one stop shop' for services that can support you.
Connexions personal advisers in the hubs and Connexions careers advisers in schools and colleges, are specially trained to give you information, advice and guidance, on the big decisions that you want to make about your future and, if necessary, they can put you in touch with the best people to help you.
Services offered
These are some of the services offered from hubs across the region:

Get Connected Now is the Connexions' vacancy service for North Yorkshire and York
If you're thinking about what you would like to do next; training, an apprenticeship, a job, Get Connected Now is a great place to start. The Get Connected Now website (www.getconnectednow.co.uk) is where you can go to search for jobs and apply on line, or print off an application form. You will need to contact your Connexions adviser in school or college, or in your local hub, to find out more about the vacancy/training opportunity, and they will help you to fill the application form in, if you wish. You should check the closing date so that you do not miss out. There may be opportunities that you have not thought of, so you can be matched to vacancies to increase your chances of finding the right job/training for you and your future. Why not check it out now.
